Legacy

Building on the Battles Legacy

Most people leave legacies through money or land. But there is another way to leave one of the verybest legacies of all: leaving aface.

On this site are the faces of The Battles family: Battles past, Battles present, and the Battles of the future. When you visit this site and browse these pages, look beyond the photo’s age. Look past the shadows that hide thosesame features you see in your brother, sister, mother, father, or cousin…or yourself. Look beyond the photo edges that are curled and torn.

See the legacy.

Studythe smiling, thoughtful, and sometimes somber faces of The Battles. And when you see them, really see them, know that wherever they were, whatever they were doing just before they sat for that all-important photograph, their intentions were one and the same: to leave a legacy…for us.

For us.So we wouldn’t forget the love. So we wouldn’t forget the strength.

So we wouldn’t forget…The Battles.

WE are the Battles. They left their faces…for us.

Faith

“…As it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!”

It takes more than bread and water to keep us moving along this winding path we call life. It takes faith. Faith is what sustains us while we wait for what we strive for to finally comes to pass.

But we would know nothing of faith without the ones who have answered that higher calling from above; the ones who have dedicated their lives, their time and their own faith to our spiritual education so that we will hold on until our change comes.

The Battles Family has a long and lovely history with faith and the ministry. Within these pages are the life stories, faces, and accomplishments of those in our family who brought us closer to God and the church. Come read about their faith…and find your own.

Hope

Our “hopes” are like memories; they are much better when we share them with someone else. Within these web pages are stories of hope; not just hope for the future, but also hope for the here and now. One thing we know for sure: the strength that is born of hopeand dreams and stretches across time and place, and will always be there to sustain us.

Endurance

“We are all immortal, as long as our stories are told.”
― Elizabeth Hunter

Whenever you are faced with something challenging, something crushing, something so overwhelming it may leave you wondering if you will ever get through to the other side, remember that ENDURANCE is more than weathering the storm. It is TELLING the storm. Telling someone your story or listening to theirs, this is the place where endurance begins.

Come, let us tell you what our family hasendured. Come see how endurance has brought us through, from the shadows of the past to the place we are now.

Respect

Some people feel their ancestors are not much to brag about. Our family knows better. Our ancestors are EVERYTHING to brag about. Because they are, we will see them as hallowed ground. And just as a groundskeeper keeps the lawn and protects the graves of ancestors past, our family will do the same.

It is their strength, their determination, their faith and their dreams all blended into one that makes us what we are today. We have traveled and still do travelupon the backs of ALL the Battles, past and present, and through keeping these pages, we show our deepest respect.

Family

No one should walk through this world alone. WeNEED our family members to stand behind us and give us that little push forward; to walk ahead of us so they canreach back andpull us along this winding, sometimes rocky path called life. The Battles Family website is a place for family. Young and old, near and far, here on Earth or gone home to the angels.

This website is a second home where you can come for inspiration, for strength, and for the companionship of family members past and present.
